Vocal Instruction

Timothy Morningstar is the Vermont District Governor
of the National Association of Teachers of Singing

The Morningstar Voice Studio offers individual vocal instruction and musical coaching in a wide variety of musical styles. Timothy Morningstar has over 20 years of teaching experience in his private studio and at Universities in California, Vermont, and New York. His students have sung with major regional opera companies, equity musical theatre companies and prominent nightclubs in the United States.

One-hour sessions for vocal instruction are usually scheduled on a regular weekly basis. The session is divided into two sections which include initial vocal exercises emphasizing body awareness and release of tension, connection to the breathing mechanism, resonance balancing and register work. The second half of the session focuses on applying healthy vocal technique to the literature, with an emphasis on developing a "vocal plan" which integrates the concepts explored in the vocal exercises. Ultimately developing a pattern of healthy singing upon which the singer can rely when approaching vocal music. Sessions also focus on issues of musical style, language and dramatic interpretation.
